⏸️ SEC suspends trading of Bitcoin and Ethereum linked investments

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced on Sunday that it would suspend trading in the Bitcoin Tracker One and Ether Tracker One exchange-traded products issued by XBT Provider AB, a Swedish subsidiary CoinShares Holdings. The suspension will last through 11:59 PM eastern time on Sept. 20 as the regulator seeks clarity around what type of investment product the instruments are. In the initial broker-dealer application for the offering the investments are referred to as 'exchange traded funds"'while the issuer calls them 'non-equity linked certificates' in offering documents. Other public sources have created further confusion by referring to them as 'exchange traded notes.'
