SEC approves blockchain tech startup securitize to record stock transfers

Digital asset issuance platform Securitize can now act as a transfer agent for securities after approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Administration (SEC). As a transfer agent Securitize can act as an official record keeper for securities transfers including records related to dividends, votes, redemptions, and buybacks. The company claims to be the first transfer agent working on a blockchain protocol and will look to integrate with alternative trading systems that offer digital securities.
