🇷🇺 Russian Supreme Court classifies illicit crypto use under money laundering laws

To comply with the international Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF), Russia's Supreme Court has amended anti-money laundering (AML) laws to include illicit use of cryptocurrencies. Any crypto that is transferred to fiat and was first acquired through criminal means will be considered laundered and subject to additional criminal offenses. The Court cited multiple illicit drug cases involving cryptocurrencies to strengthen its ruling.
