👺 Quebec’s AMF says Bitmex’s activities “Were illegal,” demands account closures

According to the South China Morning Post and Quebec’s financial services authority, the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), BitMEX shut down Quebecian based accounts after the AMF sent a letter to BitMEX in early 2018. BitMEX is not registered with AMF, making all accounts illegal in Quebec. How AMF verified the account closures is unknown due to the availability of VPN technology.
