In a podcast interview from 2014, recently deceased QuadrigaCX CEO Gerry Cotten may have left the clues for obtaining the exchanges cold wallet reserves. The reserves, lost without the passwords believed to be on Cotten's password, may have be in cold storage paper wallets at various bank safety deposit boxes. While only speculative, other exchanges use a similar system like the Winklevoss twins' Gemini exchange.
