India's government is unlikely to change cryptocurrency regulations anytime soon. Addressing the lower house of parliament, the Lok Sabha, the minister of the state of finance Pon Radhakrishnan stated: "In absence of a globally acceptable solution and the need to devise technically feasible solution . . . is difficult to state a specific timeline." Although legal to own cryptocurrency, Indian banks are banned from any cryptocurrency related services.
