QuadrigaCX co-founders Michael Patryn and Gerald Cotton once ran an intermediary of Liberty Reserve, a centralized digital currency precursor of Bitcoin ($BTC) shut down by the Federal government in 2013. The intermediary, Midas Gold, had its domain seized by the government during the shutdown only months before the tandem would launch crypto exchange QuadrigaCX.
