The Enterprise Ethereum Alliance (EEA), a consortium of over 250 renowned companies charged with creating standards for Ethereum-based business applications, announced it will now feature a system of reward tokens to incentivize participation. CoinDesk reports the new system is backed by EEA members Microsoft and Intel. Michael Reed, blockchain program manager at Intel, revealed the system supports three token types: a reward token; a reputation token; and a penalty token.
To effectively incentivize participants requires not only a carrot but also a stick, said [Marley Gray, principal architect at Microsoft], noting that all the penalty tokens a participant accumulates (demerits, essentially) have to be factored in before rewards tokens can be redeemed.
