IRS says it will ‘soon’ issue crypto tax guidance in first since 2014
In a response to Rep. Tom Emmer’s (R-MN) letter to the IRS Commissioner Charles P. Rettig, the agency announced it is working on a crypto tax guidance for the first time since 2014. The letter asked for issuance of new rules one month after Tax Day, May 15th, by a grouping of Congressman. In a statement, Rettig said: "I share your belief that taxpayers deserve clarity on basic issues related to the taxation of virtual currency transactions and have made it a priority of the IRS to issue guidance."
