🏛 High-ranking official in South Korea proposes bill to accelerate blockchain development and industry growth

On March 25, Lee Sang-min, a member of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea and an official at the South Korea Science and Technology Information and Communications Commission, proposed a regulatory framework that supports the facilitation of the growth of the local blockchain industry.

The proposed framework covers:

  1. Establishing the definition of blockchain technology
  2. Ways to promote blockchain development and industry
  3. Training of blockchain specialists and supporting startups
  4. Creation of designated special zones for blockchain development

"It has been 2 to 3 years since blockchain adoption has been discussed yet the sector is still at a standstill. Despite the inflow of young talent into the sector, the sentiment is cautious due to the lack of regulatory frameworks," Lee said.
