France will not tax crypto-to-crypto trades; will tax gains converted into ‘traditional’ currency

French officials have stated crypto-to-crypto trades will be tax-exempt, opting to create a taxable event only when converted into traditional money. Further, the country's value-added tax (VAT) will only be applied when crypto is used to purchase a good or service.
