Facebook plans to launch 'GlobalCoin' currency in 2020

According to a report from the BBC, Facebook plans to roll out a digital token, called GlobalCoin, as early as the first quarter of 2020. Facebook is in talks with money transfer firms like Western Union that could potentially use the remittance token to send cheaper payments worldwide. The firm plans to start testing GlobalCoin later this year before rolling it out to around a dozen countries.
