Ethereum to test upcoming Istanbul hard fork in early October
The testnet for the upcoming Ethereum ($ETH) hard fork is set for October 2, with mainnet launch tentatively scheduled for November. This update will include a change to the mining algorithm, called ProgPow that is designed to make the network more ASIC resistant. A security audit is in the process of being completed and is expected to answer a lot of the questions and speculation around ProgPow.
