🚦 Ethereum developers give ‘tentative’ greenlight to ASIC-blocking code

Ethereum's ($ETH) open source development community has agreed to implement a new algorithm blocking specialized mining hardward, or ASICs. The algorithm, ProgPoW, will use GPUs over ASICs, which the development team see as a better stepping stone to Proof of Stake. The stand alone upgrade should take place in two to four months, right after the Jan. 16th Constantinople update.
