Backed by large crypto players like Circle and Coinbase, a new industry group called the Blockchain Association was announced on Tuesday. As the first fully-fledged lobbying group in D.C., the association will represent companies in the space that want to work with politicians on industry-specific legal and regulatory initiatives. Among the first agenda items are addressing how cryptocurrencies are treated under existing tax law and explaining to policymakers how anti-money-laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) regulations work in the space.
