🏛️ Congress asks IRS to clarify crypto tax rules
Members of the Senate Finance Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee have sent a letter to the IRS asking for clarity on cryptocurrency taxes. In addition, the members requested more details on a broad summons for Coinbase user data that was issued by the agency in 2016. The IRS has been silent on the issue of crypto taxation since 2014 despite a number of new issues complicating the issue of paying taxes.
