CME Group clocks bitcoin futures volume record by an eye popping 50%, with more than $1 billion in notional value traded

The world's largest options and futures provider, Chicago's CME Group, saw an all-time high of Bitcoin ($BTC) contracts sold in one day at 33,700. The previous highs of 22,500 and 18,300 were set April 4th and February 19th, respectively. At five Bitcoin per contract, 168,000 coins were traded at a total notional trade volume of $1 billion, twice the BTC spot volume of Binance and three times that of Coinbase in the same period.
