💬 CFTC meeting hears renewed calls for crypto self-regulation

The Technology Advisory Committee (TAC) of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) discussed crypto regulations in an hour-long session on Friday. The cryptocurrencies subcommittee of the TAC talked about best practices to protect investors’ assets, trading safeguards, and the potential of regulatory technology. Billions of dollars have been stolen from crypto exchanges in the past decade; examples include Mt. Gox, Bitfinex, and last month's $60 million theft from Japanese exchange Zaif.
