📌 BIS report: 70 percent of central banks show interest in CBDC research, but few plan implementations

A new Bank for International Settlements (BIS) survey shows that “Some 70% of respondents are currently (or will soon be) engaged in CBDC work.” Despite stated interest from the survey that included 63 banks worldwide adoption seems to be lower. Only five of the studied banks, including Sweden’s Riksbank and Uruguay’s central bank, have moved their CBDC projects past the research stages according to the report.
