We updated our methodology to compute trading volumes for stablecoins.
Previously, we only count the volume of a trading pair towards the base asset rather than the quote asset. For instance, BTCUSDT volume counts towards BTC but not USDT. A potential issue with this, as flagged by some of our users, is that it underestimates the level of trading activity of stablecoins, since stablecoins tend to be the quote asset rather than the base asset.
Our new methodology makes an exception for all pairs that are denominated in stablecoins. In particular, BTCUSDT volume counts towards both BTC and USDT.
All methodologies are imperfect, but some are more useful than others. We hope that our new methodology will make our volume metrics more useful for users who are interested in stablecoins.
