Proof of Work is a value anchor for cryptographic assets because of the real world expenditures behind mining. Unlike tradition systems, the database is the asset. Proof of Stake is not nearly as robust due to forking concerns. Bonding and other PoS chain continuance rules are incomplete and lead to difficult governance decisions. Even disregarding these issues, PoS coins are costless to create and therefore valueless.
