In a Reddit thread asking about the latest Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP), Bitcoin ($BTC) core contributor andytoshi says that the Schnorr BIP has yet to be assigned a number and will most likely be thrown into a larger proposal like Taproot before implementation. Other proposals, which have yet to be assigned BIP numbers but are in heavy discussion, include elimination of non-verify signature checking operation codes (opcode), replacement of chckmultisig threshold-signature opcode, implementation of MAST, and improving sighashing modes to patch Segwit limitations and aid the Lightning Network's development. As signaled by lack of BIP numbers, andytoshi does not have a good date for these implementations, but says they should be available for community review soon.
