Biotech company Agenus is issuing a digital security token, heralding the future of democratized fund raising. A portion of all profits from Agenus' drug 'PD-1 inhibitor' will be flushed back to holders of the new Biotech Electronic Security Token (BEST) in return for a fund raising goal of $100 million. Digital security offerings are different from 2017's ICO bonanza because of credibility: regulation is baked into the cake. Digital securities also bring the efficiencies of automated blockchain governance to the table, hurdling bureaucratic oversight. Only accredited investors can participate for now, slowing its progress, but its clear the next big thing in fund raising is around the corner.
