At a certain point, network operator firms like Airbnb or Uber switch from cooperating behavior to competitive behavior. This competitive behavior, particularly for nascent markets like crypto, is not always the best model, however. One model the crypto industry should look towards going forward should be cooperatives. Co-ops naturally align consumer and business interests because the two are the synonymous. While significant obstacles exist, like less exposure to capital and confusing governance models, co-ops incentivize communal goals that naturally avoid extractive behavior. In a sense, Bitcoin ($BTC) and Ethereum ($ETH) have the foundations for creating a co-op crypto market. As these systems grow, we should identify how to mesh secondary applications with cooperative models.
