Iranian bitcoiners have endured a somewhat turbulent environment lately, but new research offers clear insights into the popularity and economic viability of bitcoin activity in the Middle Eastern nation, reports Bitcoin Magazine contributor Jimmy Aki. Analytics firm Gate Trade released a report on Wednesday which explains:
"Out of 1,650 Iranian bitcoiners surveyed in Persian Telegram groups, 25 percent earned $500 to $3,000 a month from working with cryptocurrency."
The report continued to show that only 35 percent of the surveyed respondents receive their income through cryptocurrency mining. Conversely, 58 percent of the surveyed bitcoiners earned their money through trading through exchange networks and grassroots money changers, Aki notes. CoinDesk reporter Leigh Cuen also shared her opinions and insights on the growing bitcoin scene in Iran.
