🌐[Analysis] Financial Stability Board publishes review of cryptoassets – Financial Stability Board

In response to a request from the G20, the Financial Stability Board has issued a report on crypto-asset monitoring.

  1. The FSB is developing metrics to track risks from cryptoassets, including: price, market cap, volatility, confidence indicators, ICO issuance, and fiat to crypto flows.
  2. The Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures is focused payments and central bank digital currencies. They view the first generation of decentralized cryptoassets as unsafe money due to the lack of an underlying asset. The Committee also cautions against bank-issued crypto, but recognizes the need for innovation.
  3. The International Organization of Securities Commissions has established the ICO Consultation Network to discuss both domestic and cross-border token issuance. The Organization is also examining 'non-intermediated access', and cautions that enforcement of investor protection, AML/KYC, and other regulator regimes may be difficult.
