[Analysis] Facebook's upcoming 'cryptocurrency' has nothing to do with Bitcoin - Kyle Torpey

Facebook's GlobalCoin is another faux cryptocurrency, according to Kyle Torpey. Bitcoin's ($BTC) proof-of-work protocol allows it to be decentralized to the point of being apolitical. GlobalCoin is just another PayPal or Cash App with blockchain thrown into the mix. If it offers any advantage over traditional digital payments available today, expect regulatory backlash. If it does not garner such attention, then GlobalCoin doesn't offer any unique advantages.
