Facebook's Libra is a bet on regulatory response, with the social media giant laying its cards on KYC compliance falling on the shoulders of exchanges and not itself, according to Eric Wall. Due to the open nature of blockchains, Facebook could force exchanges trading Libra to perform KYC while retaining the pseudo-anonymity of a cryptocurrency. In this way, Libra is similar to Bitcoin ($BTC) by integrating its on/off-ramp vulnerability. By shoving the bill onto exchanges, Libra has the best of both worlds and can collect data through market place transactions.
