Vision Hill Advisors look at the future of decentralized systems, comparing contemporary systems to a prospective vision of the future. Vision Hill sees two immediate market consequences of decentralization which it terms the Money Stack and the Internet Stack.
For the Money Stack, the advent of a new value proposition, transparency and decentralized trust, necessitates some sort of reordering of the current financial infrastructure. In this new system, Vision Hill predicts a tertiary layering: Bitcoin's blockchain ($BTC) as a settlement layer, followed by the Lightning Network and federated sidechains on the second, concluding with decentralized lightning apps (Lapps) on a final consumer level.
The Internet Stack will see a similar change, but more likely a layering on current systems rather than fundamental transformation. Vision Hill foresees a Web 3.0 that builds decentralized exchanges, financial contracts, and curation markets, alongside other developments, on top today's web, Web 2.0. But this is not all: a decentralized application layer will arise, with everything from decentralized social media platforms to decentralized insurance networks, on top of the early decentralized Web 3.0 we see today.
