Innovative features that Bitcoin's ($BTC) competitors tout fall flat, minus two: adaptability and ledger assurance models. While these dangers have yet to be proven, they exist. Programmability, privacy, throughput, and monetary policy all have marginal to negligible claims of displacing Bitcoin's dominance because of Bitcoin's head start or ability to add features. Still, altcoins can be more adaptable through on-chain governance, directly implementing necessary features quicker than Bitcoin's meritocracy. Different ledger assurance models, like Proof-of-Stake (PoS), could also prove themselves better than Bitcoin's model in the long run. In the end, only time and competition can crown the champion.
