Blockchain Capital conducted a second poll Bitcoin ($BTC) awareness poll, ancillary to the one it conducted in Oct. 2017 to understand social perceptions across age demographics. The poll, using a sample of 2029 Americans from April 23-25th 2019, found increasing awareness of Bitcoin across all social demographics, with younger demographics leading the way. A few of the top results were:
- Public awareness increased from 77% to 89% with only a two percent difference between the youngest and oldest demographics at 90% and 88% respectively.
- Familiarity rose from 30% to 43%, led by 60% of all 18-34 year-olds.
- Perception of Bitcoin as a positive financial innovation increased nine percent from 34% to 43%.
- The propensity to purchase rose from 19% to 27%, which the author Spencer Bogart notes as remarkable in light of the bear market.
- Of the sample, 11% owned Bitcoin. 20% of the lowest age range owned Bitcoin, an interesting development as only 34% of under 35 year-olds have invested in the stock market.
