Bitcoin's ($BTC) infamous orange ₿ logo mimics the creation of Bitcoin, with gradual adoption of individual efforts creating the marketing giant it is today. Satoshi Nakamoto created the first symbol in 2009, a simple gold coin with 'BC' inscribed over it. In early 2010, he issued another version with the first iteration of the ₿, a symbol not dissimilar to Thai's baht, ฿. In November 2010, Bitcoin Talk user 'bitboy' dropped a few logo takes before it got to big to change. His symbol, a slightly off kilter B dropped in orange, copied MasterCard, an irony not lost on bitboy. Through social consensus, it now represents an alternative payment method all over the globe.
