A Compatibility Matrix for the Bitcoin ($BTC) scaling technologies supported by leading wallets and services was announced on Tuesday by the Bitcoin Operations Technology Group (a.k.a., Bitcoin Optech). The matrix offers an easy-to-use tool for Bitcoin users to track the status of scaling technology adoption by each listed company, starting with segregated witness (a.k.a., segwit) address and replace-by-fee (RBF) adoption.
Publicly monitoring scaling support is important to motivate the continued adoption of scaling technologies across the Bitcoin ecosystem. The only services with perfect scores for segwit adoption are: Samourai, Ledger, Electrum, and the Bitcoin Core wallet. To date, no wallet or service fully supports RBF sending or receiving.
Bitcoin Optech’s stated goal is:
“…to bring the best open source technologies and techniques to Bitcoin-using businesses in order to lower costs and improve customer experiences.”
