According to new data from crypto research firm Chainalysis, the amount of Bitcoin held in active wallets remains near record highs. As of the end of August 4.8 million BTC, or roughly 32 percent of circulating supply (minus lost coins), was held in personal wallets with some level of recent transactional activity. The August numbers were slightly lower than the record high in July when 4.95 million BTC, or 33 percent of circulating supply, was held in personal wallets. The majortiy of BTC is still held as an inactive investment, whether custodied by an institution or individual, with 6.3 million held in accounts that had no activity in over a year, according to the report.
