Abkhazia, a republic on the Black Sea coast, has temporarily shut down 15 mining facilities in response to higher local demand due to the winter months. The mining facilities require 8,950 kWt at max capacity, equivalent to 1,800 households. The state owned power company, Chernomorenergo, rationed the locally produced electricity for homes, social institutions, and production facilities.
