Omise, a Thailand-based payment service provider, formed the Omise Blockchain Lab in 2015 to explore how blockchain could help provide real-world payment solutions. After two years of research, it established OmiseGO (now OMG Network) to build a platform that could enable people to access financial services through blockchain technology. Both Omise and OMG Network are subsidiaries of Omise Holdings. OMG Network continues to develop the software behind the OMG protocol.
